The challenge

To create a collaborative & memorable experience during their Spring Artisan Market at Purdue University Northwest–Westville Campus that celebrated local creativity, encouraged community interaction, and reflected both The Collective's
and Purdue’s brand spirit.

The vision

Together with Melissa Griffin of Indigo Ink Designs, we envisioned an interactive mural celebrating creativity that would encourage shoppers to participate, snap a photo, and share on socials. The palette? A bold and intentional black, white, and gold—tying directly into both The Collective’s aesthetic and Purdue’s brand colors.

The process

Step 1: Scope

Defined our vision,
where it’s going, and how the interactivity would work during the event with the shoppers.

Step 2: Concept

We digitally illustrated the
mural concept, with my
hand lettering and Melissa’s
illustrated florals.

Step 3: Create

Built a 7x7' free-standing mural panel, prepped and painted it matte black, while painting elements in white.

Step 4: Launch

Brought it to life, live, at the Spring Artisan Market, where shoppers were invited to help paint the golden yellow details over the white.

The results

The mural wasn’t just seen—it was an experience.

  • Dozens of shoppers became artists for a day.

  • Guests could take home prints of the final design as a keepsake, while kids got to enjoy mural-themed coloring pages—either at the event or later at home.

  • The event attracted buzz online and in person thanks to the live, interactive element and coordinated social promotion.

  • The final mural became more than a one-day wonder, it lived again as a photo booth backdrop at The Collective’s farmers market events.

Client love

I have worked with Amanda for several years and her work just keeps getting better and better!

"I had a wonderful experience working with Amanda from Region Design Co. for our 5 year anniversary market. She collaborated with another local artist, Melissa from Indigo Ink Designs to create a beautiful custom backdrop. Our guests were even able to help paint it throughout the day as it was completely interactive! She took things like our branding and style into consideration when creating the design and made the perfect piece for our event."

The impact

This project proved that art builds community. By inviting the public to be part of the creative process, we deepened engagement with The Collective’s audience and created a piece with lasting connection.

It reinforced The Collective’s mission to celebrate local makers, and brought added visibility to both Region Design Co. and Indigo Ink Designs through meaningful collaboration.
